Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I do with PhotoCrank?

    • The Widget - By adding the PhotoCrank widget to your blog or website, you can enable your readers to add graphics, text, word bubbles, etc to any picture on your site! The new, interactive element will give your readers more creative freedom while you maintain full administrative control. You can decided which pictures are crankable and can remove any cranks that do not meet your approval.
    • The Toolbar - By adding the PhotoCrank toolbar to your browser, you are able to add graphics, text, word bubbles, etc to ANY picture on ANY website and will remain there to be viewed by the entire PhotoCrank community! Before you know it, millions of people will be viewing your cranks all over the web...self-expression and creativity has never been so unrestricted!
  • I did not receive my activation email.

    • Visit this login page and enter your email address that you used when you set-up your account. The system will re-send you an Activation Email if you have not yet activated your account.
    • If the above option does not work, try looking in your junk mail folder. Many of the big email providers (Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo, Gmail) will automatically put the mail in your junk mail folder. We recommend marking all files sent from photocrank.com as safe so that they will no longer be placed in your junk mail.
  • The PhotoCrank Icon does not always appear on photos on some of the sites I visit. I want to Crank the photos, so what can I do?

PhotoCrank works on almost every site on the Internet; however, we do experience issues on some websites. We don't know all the sites where there are problems, so please let us know!
  • Sometimes PhotoCrank does not load immediately when I visit a website. Why and what can I do?

PhotoCrank works on IE, Safari and Firefox. However, to experience optimal performance, we encourage you to use FireFox.
  • I accidently turned off PhotoCrank on a site. How can I turn it back on?

You probably clicked the RED 'X' on the crankbar. This is what disables PhotoCrank on a website.
Warning: Using the methods below will delete ALL of your cookies that you have on your browser, for ALL sites you visit. An alternative option for you is to open your cookies folder, depending on the browser, and delete just the cookies for the site you want to re-enable PhotoCrank on.

To proceed follow one of these options:

    • Internet Explorer > Tools Menu > Internet Options > General Tab > Browsing History Delete Button > Delete Cookies
    • Firefox > Tools Menu > Clear Private Data > Uncheck All Items and Check Cookies > Click “Clear Private Data Now”
    • Safari > Edit > Preferences > Security Tab > Show Cookies > Remove All (***or an alternative is to select only the cookies for the site you want to reenable PhotoCrank on and just delete them)
  • Why do some images require the Crankbar and some others don't?

If the website that's hosting the photo has the PhotoCrank engine installed on it, you will be able to view the cranks without needing to install the CrankBar. However, you will not be able to view the cranks, unless you have the bar, on websites that don't have the PhotoCrank engine installed.
  • I installed the PhotoCrank Browser Extnesion but it is not visible in my browser toolbar.

If you installed the PhotoCrank browser extension in your IE toolbar, but the PhotoCrank button is not appearing for you, it is probably because the toolbar is "Locked".
To fix this, follow these steps to uncheck the "Lock the Toolbars" menu option.

Internet Explorer > Tools Menu > Toolbars > Lock the Toolbars
